Came here for Bun Bo Hue, spicy beef noodle soup. Kieu is know as the best place for it and friends say it's the closest to what they could in Vietnam. I ordered it without the blood (cubes) it came with beef shank, tendon, pork sausage and pig feet. It was flavorful and came with a plate of veggies and fresh herbs to mix in; bean sprouts, basil, lime, and even banana flower which you don't normally find outside of Vietnam. I thought there was a deep flavor but was only mildly spicy. It's richer and more bold than pho broth. The noodles were different than pho noodles, they were white and round, maybe a rice noodle? I think I might order it with pho noodles next time. They are located in Chinatown so parking will have to be at one of the municipal lots or if you park on the street and walk. Service was friendly and prompt. I'd come back to try the pho or banh mi or the bun Bo hue with pho noodles.

We had the bun rieu and bun Bo hue. Things were good but a bit on the salty side. Not bad but ok. Overall service was really good. 20%+ tip for sure.

We tried this place out and thought it was really yummy, clean, spacious and great service! Their bbq chicken banh mi was AMAZING! I know, I sound basic to rave about a sandwich but IYKYK a sammie can be a chef's kiss on the tastebuds. The bread was light and crispy, it did not cut the roof of my mouth. The chicken was so juicy and covered in an umami bbq sauce that was giving me unagi/ teriyaki sauce vibes even though I know that's probably not what they used. The veggies were plentiful and fresh. 11/10!! I did not get a photo but it's tasty memory lives on in my heart. We also got the citrus beef salad which was packed with tender rare beef and lots of fresh herbs and topped with crispy peanuts and shallots in a delish sweet citrus dressing that was oh so refreshing. Last up, and the reason why I wanted to try this spot was they make Banh beo which is hard to find so I was excited to try something new. Honestly, we didn't really care for it, but now we know! It is freshly steamed rice rice and tapioca flour that was still kind of soft like a custard pancake topped with dried shrimp, tofu and herbs. Overall it was awesome and we look forward to going back and trying more things.

The food must have been very authentic. I'm not sure but the dishes seemed more in depth with ingredients than the many pho places I have tried. The food tasted delicious. The servers were very sweet and helpful. I 1000% recommend!

You know what's crazy? I was never a Bun Bo Hue girly until earlier this year. I would eat it but no place really stuck with me until my parents were telling me how this is the best one in Chinatown (maybe on the island idk) so I was like alright let me try it again. Don't judge me but I don't care for the noodle type in BBH so I usually substitute it with glass noodles (top tier) or pho noodles if they don't have the first. One sip and I was wowed: it is spicy but the lemongrass flavor is so on point! I even saved the broth to eat it with rice later. I also like how they ask if you want all the toppings (ie. pigs feet, pigs blood) because I know it can be too adventurous for some people, so that reduces waste Another reason why I love this place is because they offer Banh Beo! For those who don't know, it's a Vietnamese style steam rice cake dish topped with mung bean, prawn floss, and some green onions with fish sauce on the side. This is one of my favorite dishes and Vietnamese restaurants here don't really make it so imagine my squealing when I saw it on their wall. They only open for the morning/afternoon which is a bummer because I would love to come here for dinner as well!

Highly recommended! This is one of the most authentic Vietnamese place I been to in a while.. and that is coming from someone that lives in Los Angeles and goes to OC for Vietnamese meals, this probably beats it. I tried several bun Rui in Cali but none makes it this good (often substituting some key ingredients) and fresh. Also very impressed with their plate of veggies! Most places only give bean sprouts but here they give you the water spinach AND banana pulp veggies as well AND in abundance. Also the Vietnamese iced coffee was perfection. Owner was super friendly. Will definitely visit again when we return to Hawaii.

I must say I've been to this place twice. 1st time I had their bun rieu. It was really good. Recently had their seafood pho. Broth has really good, deep Flavors. The shrimps are large. Their Vietnamese ice coffee is aromatic and strong. So if you love strong coffee. Strongly recommend their ice coffee. They have other drinks and soda available. They also serve ice jasmine tea when you ask for ice water. They have great menu selection. Service was pretty quick. Give a 4 star due to place could use a little cleaning, like dirty tables and mirror. Definitely recommended this place. Help support local business.

The best Bun Bo Hue and banh bèo chén love this place recommended when you in Hawaii Honolulu this place at China town

Wow the flavors are so good here. It might be the best Bun Bo Hue, bun rieu and pho on the island. We always frequent another more popular Vietnamese restaurant in Chinatown and decided to switch it up and try something new. SO GLAD we did! Their Bun Bo Hue flavor was so bold and had a lot of depth and umami, quite lemongrassy too. Just a whole bowl of goodness. Their bun rieu tasted really flavorful, and toward the end maybe a little too salty. (Make sure drink a lot of tea that they offer.) most of all, after having gone to so many pho places for combo pho, the broth here was probably one of the best. The flavor was so well balanced. We packed the broth home and mixed it with pasta for the kid. I tried it and I loved it. He ate the whole bowl with the meatballs. The only thing I wish it would be different was that the spring rolls could be a bit more crispy. The clam appetizer could use a bit more herbs. Not sure if I'll get these dishes again. I also wanna try something new next time. But for sure I'll get their noodle soup again and again! Come check them out and you won't regret it!

Our Vietnamese friend Truong keeps bringing us back here for the goods - authentic, delicious Bun Bo Hue, Bun Rieu, and this time: Banh Beo. It's an unassuming chinatown dive in Chinatown off of King and River. They serve Vietnamese tea instead of water, and have all the usual suspects like pho and banh mi. The servers are very attentive and helpful. Park on the street, or if you don't mind a short walk, we usually park at Marin Tower (cheaper outside of downtown work hours). - Bun Bo Hue ($17.02) - Spicy beef noodle - this is the magic. Rich, spicy broth filled with rice noodles, beef shank, beef tendon, pork sausage, and a piece of pork blood and pig feet each. It's all very tender, tasty, and filling. Add in the piles of fresh veggies they give - beansprout, culantro, basil, banana flower, and ongchoy. Incredible. (Their egg noodle is also really good in here, but you will be frowned upon) - Pho Tai ($16.25) - Pho with steak - Gigantic serving befitting the price. Very generous on the steak. I'm not a fan of the broth, it's more sweet/anise than savory, but every place does it different and everyone has their preferences. Again, load it up with the fresh veggies and you're off to the races. - Banh Beo Chen ($20) - Vietnamese rice cakes - I've never seen this in Honolulu and my god is it delicious. Little rice cake cups with shrimp and pork rinds that are the perfect vehicle for consuming more fish sauce than I should. We'd come here just for this unique dish. - Banh Xeo ($19) - Vietnamese crepe - Very crispy on the outside and absolutely stuffed with beansprouts, pork, shrimp, and squid. Wrap in lettuce with sweet fish sauce, veggies, and mint, SO GOOD. We also had a friend who ordered the lemongrass chicken on rice (com ga xao sa ot, $16.50) - I gotta be honest, this is probably the best rendition I've tried. The lemongrass sauce was very thick and rich, and added a new dimension. Kieu isn't cheap by any means, but when it comes to flavor, they absolutely deliver. Can't wait to visit again.
